Summary

The Sega Master System version of Altered Beast features significantly altered graphics due to hardware limitations. Unlike other versions, the SMS port includes only single-player mode and consists of just four levels.

Storyline

You were once a Roman Centurion, who fell with honor in battle. A century later, Zeus, the Thunder God, has summoned you from the dead. As he bestows upon you a second life, he entrusts you with a vital task: to save his daughter, Athena, from the cruel grasp of Neff, the Lord of the Underworld. Your journey will take you from the world above deep into the Underworld, where Neff’s army of the dead awaits at every turn—zombies, demons, gargoyles, and three-headed wolves. But this time, you are not without an advantage. You have been granted the power to transform into mighty magical beasts of incredible strength! From a warrior to a superhuman...to a werewolf, were-dragon, were-tiger, and finally, the ultimate form—the Golden Wolf! Each transformation brings with it supernatural powers. You’ll need them all, for Neff is a terrifying foe. Fail, and Athena will suffer a fate beyond imagining. Succeed, and you may earn a place among the gods in the Pantheon of Immortality! Remember...Never say die!
