Summary
Baten Kaitos Origins is set 20 years prior to the original Baten Kaitos game. It delves into the rise of the sinister Emperor Geldoblame and provides deeper insight into the heroes from the first installment. Additionally, the game explores the origins of the world and the mystery behind the return of the Lost Ocean. The protagonist is a blue-haired young man named Sagi, who was sent to kill the Emperor, only to discover the job had already been done. Accused of the crime, he now flees with two companions: a robot named Guillo and a young woman named Milly. At the beginning of the game, the player's group follows a linear path, moving from one location to the next. After a few hours of gameplay, players will obtain a ship that grants them the freedom to explore areas in any order, enabling them to tackle side quests or focus on the main story as they choose. Unlike conventional RPGs, where characters level up in attributes like strength and agility, most progression in Baten Kaitos Origins is achieved by obtaining better Magnus cards. The game features over 600 unique Magnus cards, some with truly extraordinary abilities. Players can collect these cards through various means, including trading, purchasing, winning them in battle, or crafting them themselves.
