Relive the action with Bionic Commando Rearmed, a reimagined version of the beloved NES title, now available on PC. Two decades after the original 8-bit classic first launched, this remake brings the iconic world back to life with a stunning "2.5D" graphical overhaul.
Bionic Commando Rearmed draws its storyline primarily from the Nintendo Entertainment System version of the game. In line with the North American release of that version, the Nazi references present in the original Japanese title are omitted in Rearmed. However, just like in the original, the final boss of the game clearly resembles Adolf Hitler and is called "The Leader." Rearmed follows two opposing factions: the Federation and the Empire. The story begins when Imperial forces uncover confidential documents about a secret weapon known as the Albatros project, which was initially developed by an organization called the Badds but never finished. Killt, the Generalissimo of the Empire, decides to take over the project and complete it. Upon learning of the Empire's plan, the Federation dispatches their national hero, Super Joe, to infiltrate the Empire. During his mission, Joe is captured by Imperial troops. The Federation then sends a second agent, Nathan Spencer, to rescue Super Joe and help him finish his mission. Spencer moves through various locations, defeating numerous Imperial commanders along the way. As he advances, he acquires new technology and ventures further behind enemy lines. The story reaches its climax when Super Joe is freed from the bionic Imperial soldier Gottfried Groeder. Together, Spencer and Joe set out to destroy the Albatros project. During the mission, Spencer confronts "The Leader," the revived leader of the Imperial forces. Spencer defeats The Leader, and with Super Joe, he destroys the Albatros. The game concludes with both heroes clinging to a helicopter as it flies away, the Albatros exploding behind them.
