One year after the events of *Clock Tower: The First Fear*, in late 1996, Jennifer Simpson has been taken in by Helen Maxwell, the assistant of the esteemed psychiatrist Samuel Barton, and is currently receiving therapy at a university research facility in Oslo, Norway. The treatment aims to help her process the trauma from the Clock Tower incident and possibly uncover the truth behind the enigmatic Scissorman. As Barton administers hypnosis to Jennifer, Helen decides to bring her home early, explaining that she isn’t yet ready to recall the murders. Barton then exits the room to speak with Harris Chapman, another assistant at the university. If Barton engages with Harris twice, he reveals his feelings for Jennifer, and the player’s perspective shifts from Helen to Jennifer. Barton descends to the lower level, where he is questioned by Nolan Campbell, a journalist, and later entrusts the Demon Idol statue to either Rick, a former butler for the Barrows family, or Sullivan, the local library’s curator. Keeping track of who receives the statue is essential for determining the game’s outcome.
