2K Sports steps onto the hardwood with COLLEGE HOOPS 2K6 for the PS2. This time around, the spotlight is on coaching rather than just playing with star athletes, as players take the reins of their very own NCAA squad. Gamers can choose from almost every real-life NCAA coach or design a custom one. Each coach comes with a set of unique traits that influence various parts of the game. For instance, charisma impacts recruitment and player morale, while discipline helps maintain focus during games. Players can also bring in-game issues to the coach for resolution, which in turn affects the team's performance. During gameplay, access to the coach's clipboard is available, and it will appear automatically when adjustments are needed, eliminating the need to navigate through multiple menus. A new addition is the four areas of emphasis: ball control, defense, rebounding, and shot selection. Choosing one enhances the team's effectiveness in that specific area based on the coach's attributes. The recruiting system has also been refined and enhanced. Gamers can monitor up to 15 potential recruits throughout the season, tracking their interest and stats, and decide whether to take control of the process or let assistant coaches handle many of the decisions. COLLEGE HOOPS 2K6 authentically captures the experience of coaching an NCAA team, and with the inclusion of assistant coaches and other features, it ensures players never feel overburdened.
