Dance Dance Revolution 2ndMix is the second title in the Dance Dance Revolution series of rhythm-based video games. It was launched as an arcade game by Konami in Japan on January 29, 1999. The game features a total of 32 tracks, including ten from the original Dance Dance Revolution arcade title and 26 brand-new additions. An enhanced edition, Dance Dance Revolution 2ndMix Link Version, was introduced in Japanese arcades on April 28, 1999. This version included a PlayStation memory card reader built into the center of the arcade cabinet. It supports cards containing Link Data from the home edition of Dance Dance Revolution, enabling players to save high scores and use custom step edits. The 2ndMix Link Version adds five new songs, two from the home version and three new licensed tracks, bringing the total to 37 songs. Later Dance Dance Revolution titles in Japan, up to and including Dance Dance Revolution Extreme, incorporated Link Data functionality within the game. However, these required different home versions to generate the various Link Data formats: 3rdMix, 4thMix, 4thMix Plus, 5thMix, and New Version.
