This version was released by Taito to celebrate the 3000 active Densha de Go! 2 arcade machines across Japan, and it is known as Densha de Go! 2 Kousoku-hen 3000-bandai. It introduces eleven new routes and a variety of new train models. Special upgrade kits and new arcade cabinets became available in August and September 1998. The game was later ported to the Dreamcast and Windows PC platforms in the year 2000. It also formed the foundation for the 1999 release of Densha de Go! 64.
