Unlike other Digimon DS games, this one doesn't have the player issuing commands during battles—instead, the Digimon select their own attacks. The game also brings back the caretaking elements from earlier titles, requiring players to feed, nurture, heal, treat, and clean up after their Digimon. It marks the first Digimon game to introduce the Dracomon lineage, including Petitmon, Babydramon, Dracomon, Coredramon (Air), Coredramon (Ground), Wingdramon, Groundramon, Slayerdramon, and Breakdramon. The game begins with Botamon as the starting Digimon.
