Summary

Ankh-Morpork is a city shrouded in shadow, where the chilly Ankh River runs and the rain never stops falling. It's a place where dwarves and trolls live alongside hidden organizations, zealous religious groups, bumbling police officers, and bar musicians. In this grimy metropolis, a sharp-witted, cynically observant private investigator named Lewton struggles to make a living by tackling strange and unusual cases. A mysterious woman named Carlotta approaches him with a request—to find her missing lover. As Lewton navigates the city's underbelly and collects clues, he must solve the mystery, face a dark and dangerous plot, and once more wrestle with the pull of love and the weight of despair.
