Storyline

Starting with this game, players select a playable character general and progress through a series of levels that depict key conflicts from the Three Kingdoms era, ultimately conquering the two rival kingdoms and uniting China under one ruler. However, this game is not a one-on-one brawler like the original Dynasty Warriors, but instead a 3D hack-and-slash beat 'em up, similar in style to Fighting Force. Unlike earlier titles in the beat 'em up genre, Dynasty Warriors 2 gives players the freedom to move to any location within the boundaries of the current stage.
