Famicom Wars is a Japan-exclusive video game developed for the Famicom, the Japanese version of the NES. Created by Nintendo R&D1 and coded by Intelligent Systems, it was published by Nintendo. The game gave rise to numerous sequels, five of which made their way to the United States. It marks the beginning of the Nintendo Wars series. Its gameplay shares similarities with titles in the Fire Emblem series, as both belong to the turn-based strategy genre and have been developed and published by the same companies, though the Famicom Wars series predates Fire Emblem.
