Fight Night is the latest boxing series from EA Sports, taking over from the former Knockout Kings franchise. You can design your own custom boxer and enter a career mode that starts you at the bottom in grimy, run-down gyms, as you climb the ranks to become the undisputed champion. Along the way, you'll face numerous rivals all chasing the same title. As you progress, you can train to enhance your boxer's abilities. You can punch a heavy bag to boost power and speed, spar with an opponent to gain stamina and agility, strike a dummy to improve chin and body defense, or work the mitts to build heart and cut resistance. In addition to career mode, the game includes standard gameplay options. Fight Night 2004 introduces the "Total Control" system, which uses both analog sticks to give you full precision over your boxer's actions. The right stick handles all your punches, while the left stick controls movement and defense or blocking. A variety of unlockables are available, all earned through career mode. You can purchase new outfits, entrance music, and even new female companions to accompany you into the ring. The PlayStation 2 edition of Fight Night 2004 supports online multiplayer through EA Sports' online service. Like all EA Sports games, Fight Night 2004 includes the EA Sports Bio feature, which tracks your progress across all EA Sports titles. The more games you play, the longer you play, and the better you perform, the higher your Gamer Level will rise. As you reach specific milestones, you'll unlock exclusive rewards.
