Summary

A vertically scrolling shooter arcade game created by Takumi Corporation and released by Capcom on their CPS-2 arcade system board, with a port to the Dreamcast console later that same year.

Storyline

Giga Wing is set in a fictional war within a steampunk world. The game centers around the player's mission to destroy a powerful medallion. Numerous bosses wield the medallion as a weapon. By the end, it's revealed that a sinister figure piloting a ship named the "Stranger" is the true mastermind behind the medallion and the cause of the war, as well as past conflicts like World War II. You battle him three times, first as a mini-boss and finally as the ultimate boss. He is revealed to have once been a close ally of Stuck, as seen in a flashback battle from 30 years prior. The game features four playable characters: Sinnosuke, Ruby, Isha, and Stuck, each with their own unique story. A team play mode allows two characters to be used simultaneously, creating an alternate narrative. Each story has two possible endings. In the bad ending, the player's character sacrifices themselves in a kamikaze strike to destroy the medallion. In team play, typically one character makes the sacrifice, though both can survive in some cases. In the good endings, whether playing solo or in team mode, the characters survive without making the ultimate sacrifice.
