Goetia is a point-and-click adventure game — and like all adventure games, it involves searching for clues, collecting items, and figuring out how to use or combine them to move forward through various locations, puzzles, and situations. But there's one key distinction that sets it apart from other adventure titles you may know. In Goetia, you take on the role of Abigail, the spirit of a young woman. As a ghost, you have the ability to pass through walls and soar above ceilings, giving you free rein to explore every corner. However, to interact with objects, you must possess them, just as a true poltergeist would. And once you take control of an object, you lose the ability to walk through walls.
The remains of any village stand as a quiet witness to its last days. The remains of Oakmarsh are no exception. Their hushed stillness, the dust that covers what was once a peaceful settlement near Coventry. If you wander through the ruins, it's easy to picture what once was. The tiny black specks of the Luftwaffe growing larger with each passing second. The piercing wail of dive bombers descending on that doomed day in February 1941. And if you run your fingers over the scorched wood, you might even hear the cries of warning and the surging tide of fear echoing through time. Or perhaps you'll hear nothing at all. Perhaps you'll only sense the burden of silence, disturbed only by the whisper of wind through the boughs of ancient trees. Perhaps you'll only feel the burden of this unanswered question: could that terrible attack be the reason for what happened here? Is it enough to explain why the entire village vanished? That's when you look beyond the village, when you raise your eyes and see its shape: Blackwood Manor. Behind its gates, the silence of Oakmarsh takes on a new, chilling quality. Cold, metallic, barely perceptible, heavy with secrets that refuse to stay buried. Blackwood. The name of a manor and the family that once called it home. A twisted and deranged bloodline, a family whose last descendants devoted themselves to mysticism and obsessive experimentation. I am Abigail. Abigail Blackwood. Recently awakened from the grave, I know nothing of the past 40 years of my family's history... But clearly, someone wants me to uncover what happened in Oakmarsh — to discover what led to the fall of Blackwood Manor. And it seems I have no choice in the matter…
