Half-Life: Source is a remake of Valve's original, highly praised game Half-Life, brought to their advanced Source engine—also used for Half-Life 2. It utilizes vertex and pixel shaders to deliver lifelike water effects and introduces realistic physics. The update also features redesigned menus, enhanced lighting with soft shadows, ragdoll-based character animations, and a 3D skybox that replaces the previous 16-bit prerendered bitmap skies.
You take on the role of Gordon Freeman, a 27-year-old theoretical physicist employed at the Black Mesa Research facility deep in the New Mexico desert. When a catastrophic experiment occurs, you’re thrust from the role of scientist into that of a survivor, battling through hostile aliens and military forces determined to conceal the disaster.
