Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 is a third-person action game developed by Ritual Entertainment in 2000. As a follow-up to the animated film Heavy Metal 2000, the game follows Julie as she embarks on a mission to rescue her homeworld, Eden, from GITH, a powerful being determined to take over the cosmos. Armed with an array of weapons, Julie must battle GITH’s army while also uncovering a mysterious secret buried beneath the planet’s surface.
F.A.K.K.² is short for Federation-Assigned Ketogenic Killzone squared, and it serves as both the name of the heroine, Julie, and her homeworld. Before the game begins, we learn that Julie has already defeated a tyrant and would-be deity known as Lord Tyler (as seen in *Heavy Metal 2000*), and led the remnants of her people to a planet named Eden. The people of Eden have made a shocking discovery: the planet’s waters bestow immortality to those who drink them, and they have rebuilt a pastoral utopia, raising 'creepers' (massive bull-like creatures) and living in peace. To protect this paradise, Eden is hidden behind a FAKK2 beacon that disguises it as a toxic wasteland, in the hope that it will remain undetected. However, a being known only as Gith, who exists as a disembodied cybernetic head, runs a ruthless megacorporation called Gith Industries, where his "employees" are little more than slaves. He travels the cosmos in a ship that is three-quarters of a planet, heading toward a location known as Na'ChThraThull, or the "place of the soft machines"—which is revealed to be Eden. A barrage of explosive asteroids destroys Eden’s protective shield, allowing Gith’s forces to invade. These include massive mosquitoes and their queen, the Vymish Mama, hairless bear-like Grawlix, dart-shooting plants, enormous flesh-eating flora, and Gith’s cybernetic enforcers, the Fleshbinders and Soul Harvesters. Julie, aided by gunsmith Otto and other townsfolk, navigates the war-torn Eden to restore the shield—only to find it futile. She then travels through the swamps to meet a character named Gruff, who grants her access to the Temple of the We. After completing the temple’s four trials, she enters the final chamber where the Heart of the We is held. But Gith is already there, using the Heart to resurrect Lord Tyler for vengeance against Julie. Julie defeats Tyler, claiming the Heart and banishing Gith. However, upon returning to town, she discovers that her pregnant sister has been taken by Gith, who has returned aboard a massive space station, setting the stage for a sequel or further adventures.
