After rescuing Haven City once more, Jak and Daxter are thrust into the high-octane world of international car racing after being bound by the terms of Krew's will. With more than a dozen customizable vehicles, each offering distinct driving traits, players will speed through 20 tracks across eight diverse terrain types. A wide range of power-ups is at their disposal, including projectile weapons, mines, long-range attacks, turbo boosts, shields, and smart bombs, giving players the tools they need to dominate the competition and reach the finish line first. The game offers both offline and online multiplayer options. Offline play supports two players using split-screen, while online allows competition with up to five others. Both modes include the same game types as the single-player experience, with human opponents replacing the AI.
Set one year after *Jak 3*, Haven City continues to recover from the aftermath of the Dark Makers, the Metal Heads, and the KG assaults. In the meantime, the perilous Kras City has turned combat racing into a popular sport. Jak, Daxter, Ashelin, Samos, Keira, Torn, and Sig (who is absent) are among those invited to the reading of Krew’s final will, along with his daughter, Rayn. After a toast is shared, a recorded message from Krew discloses that all attendees have been poisoned with black shade. He issues a final challenge: the only way to secure the antidote is for each of them to compete and win the upcoming Kras City Grand Championship. As Jak and his allies advance through the races, they discover that a new criminal organization, led by the enigmatic Mizo, is targeting Jak. It is eventually uncovered that Krew and Mizo had struck a deal prior to the events of *Jak 3*: each would form their own racing teams, and the loser of the Kras City Championship would be forced to submit, granting the winner control as the sole crime syndicate in Jak’s world.
