Kamaitachi no Yoru Advance is an Adventure title created and released by ChunSoft in Japan during 2002.
Toru, a college student, is invited by his girlfriend Mari to join her on a ski getaway at the Spool pension, a small inn in Nagano Prefecture operated by Mari’s uncle and his wife, the Kobayashis. Eager to strengthen their relationship, Toru is excited to take this trip, hoping to bridge the gap between them as friends and something more. As a fierce blizzard rages outside, the pension is filled with a variety of guests: part-time workers Toshio Kubota and Midori Shinozaki, office ladies Kanako, Aki, and Keiko, the Kansai business tycoon and his wife Kayama, and freelance photographer Yosuke Mikimoto. Among them is a mysterious man resembling a yakuza, Ichiro Tanaka, who wears sunglasses and keeps a low profile. After dinner, a chilling note is discovered in the room of the three office workers, warning, "Tonight at 12 o’clock, someone will die." It is initially brushed off as a joke. But after 9 p.m., the group hears the sound of shattering glass from upstairs. Investigating, they find a severed body in Tanaka’s room. The window is broken and open, yet there is no trace of the killer. With the blizzard preventing anyone from leaving and communication lines down—both landlines and mobile signals are out—the guests are trapped in a locked-room scenario. The police cannot be reached. Could the murders be the work of the local yokai, the Kamai-tachi? A shadowy figure lurks among them, and soon, a second and third death follow, as if to taunt the survivors. Determined to protect Mari, Toru takes it upon himself to uncover the identity of the killer and solve the mystery.
