Summary

Mega Man Volnutt is the main character you control in the game. He is a "Digger," someone tasked with exploring the ruins of Earth, which has been submerged by water. While traveling with his companions, their ship is wrecked on Kattelox Island, prompting Mega Man to take on a group of pirates who are raiding the island in search of its buried treasure. As an action RPG, Mega Man Legends offers a gameplay experience quite distinct from the earlier titles in the series, although it retains some familiar elements.

Storyline

Mega Man Volnutt starts his journey by venturing into a ruined tower located in the heart of the ocean, where he discovers a massive blue refractor. After overcoming the Reaverbots that stand in his way, he returns to his airship, the Flutter, and leaves the site. Unfortunately, the Flutter experiences engine trouble and crashes onto Kattelox Island. Now stranded, Mega Man, Roll, and Barrel set out to find the necessary components to fix the ship. While they're on the island, pirates under the command of the Bonne family launch an attack on Kattelox City, using enormous mechanical weapons in their pursuit of the island’s fabled treasure. Determined to defend the city, Mega Man steps in and fights off the pirate forces. He takes down Tron Bonne and her robots in the Downtown district, as well as Bon Bonne, who is leading the attack on City Hall. Later, their leader, Teisel Bonne, attempts to seize control of the Clozer Woods ruins, but Mega Man thwarts his plans, ensuring the island remains safe. The island’s mayor, Amelia, informs Mega Man that the Bonne family is after Kattelox’s hidden treasure. According to local legends, revealing it could bring about a catastrophic event for the island. Worried about unusual activity in the ruins and the growing number of Reaverbots, Amelia asks Mega Man to investigate the sites and uncover the truth.
