Legends speak of a warrior who once led the mighty Metal Gear into battle against the world. His name was Naked Snake, also known as Big Boss. Now, in a world eager for the truth, the untold story behind this legend is finally coming to light. Crafted by the iconic Hideo Kojima—the visionary creator of the most acclaimed tactical espionage game series ever made—this title places players in the boots of the legendary Naked Snake during a pivotal moment in modern history. Cutting-edge cooperative gameplay enables multiple players to infiltrate the action together and complete the mission as a team.
Four years after the San Hieronymo incident, Big Boss—now known by his original codename, Snake—alongside Kaz Miller, has founded Militaires Sans Frontières, a small mercenary group, along the Colombian coast. They are contacted by Ramon Galvez Mena, a professor at the University of Peace, and his student, Paz Ortega Andrade. Galvez seeks to hire MSF to investigate a military force that has secretly taken control of parts of Costa Rica. Snake initially refuses, recognizing Galvez as a KGB operative, but changes his mind after Paz plays a recording of The Boss. Upon arriving in Costa Rica, Snake begins to suspect that the unknown army has brought nuclear weapons with them. With the assistance of the Sandinista Liberation Army, he tracks a shipment to a remote research facility in the mountains. His suspicions are confirmed when he overhears Hot Coldman, a high-ranking CIA agent, declare his plan to launch a live nuclear weapon as part of a project known as "Peace Walker," a doomsday nuclear tank. Snake reveals himself to Huey Emmerich, one of the designers of Peace Walker, who agrees to assist him in stopping Coldman.
