Summary

NBA 09: The Inside follows up on NBA 08, offering players another exciting chapter in "The Life" mode. This time, players can step into the shoes of a custom-created superstar (up to five in total) and interact with three unique characters, shaping the story as it unfolds. The Team Progression System makes a comeback, rewarding players for exploring the game and completing specific challenges assigned throughout the experience. Earning these rewards unlocks exclusive accessories for the player's character, showcasing their rising status. Interactions with teammates and coaches also play a key role—how you behave toward them will influence your standing on the team. Being a supportive team player can lead to more playing time and a growing fan following, while a selfish attitude may isolate you and reduce your popularity. Traditional game modes like Franchise and Exhibition are also included, along with updated NBA rosters featuring all 30 teams. The game introduces the Havok engine, adding a more realistic feel through improved animations and enhanced character models. NBA Replay is back, allowing players to relive memorable moments from the 07/08 season and experience the 08/09 season by downloading content from the PlayStation Network (five new replays each week during the season). Players can upload and share their creations, track their progress on leaderboards, and even compete against each other in online exhibition matches. Play-by-play commentary is delivered by Seattle Supersonics standout Kevin Calabro and new franchise voice Kenny "The Jet" Smith.
