NHL 09 is the 17th entry in the NHL video game franchise developed by EA Sports and launched in 2008. Plans for versions on the Nintendo DS and Wii were announced but ultimately scrapped. It marked the final release of the NHL series for the PlayStation 2 and the last edition to be available on PC.
