Summary
You take on the role of Trashman, a bounty hunter hired to track down and capture dangerous criminals lurking on unforgiving alien planets. Your mission is to outpace the enemy crime boss and reach the finish line first, taking out his henchmen as you go. If you get destroyed or fall behind, the boss will escape. But if you make it to the checkpoint in time, you cut off his exit and trap him on the planet. You can use the money from your bounties to upgrade your vehicle. You can also face off against a friend in the vertical split-screen deathmatch mode. Off-World Interceptor's standout feature is its storyline, presented through full-motion video, which was standard for the era. But OWIE's FMV is played out by two guys sitting in chairs, mocking the action like Mystery Science Theater 3000.
