Summary

Ragnarok Online is a Korean MMORPG based on the manhwa Ragnarok by Lee Myung-jin. Though grounded in Norse Mythology, the game also incorporates elements of Christianity and Asian cultures. Player characters live in a constantly changing world where the environment and history shift over time, mirroring the evolving chapters of the RO storyline.

Storyline

In the realm of Rune Midgard, a time of conflict raged between the Gods, Humans, and demons... Exhausted by the devastation of a prolonged war, the warring factions settled into a fragile truce. Over the centuries, this uneasy peace endured for a thousand years. As the memory of that great struggle faded into myth, humanity once again succumbed to the corruption, greed, and pride they had once overcome. Peaceful beings turn violent, attacking settlements, while violent tremors tear continents asunder. To the north, sinister corporations conduct twisted genetic experiments, and the recent discovery of a portal to other dimensions has ushered in a new age of adventure.
