Summary

Runaway: A Twist of Fate is a point-and-click visual adventure game created by Péndulo Studios, S.L. It serves as the follow-up to Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle and marks the third and concluding installment in the Runaway series.

Storyline

The narrative picks up where the last chapter left off, beginning with Gina at Brian's funeral, where she is the sole attendee. Opening Scene The opening features a close-up of a crow’s eye, which transitions to Brian’s funeral. Only four people are present: a priest delivering a Latin eulogy, Luane, the cemetery caretaker, Ernie, the security guard from Happy Dale Mental Hospital, and Gina, Brian's girlfriend. This sequence is intercut with flashbacks to a trial where Brian is charged with the murder of General Kordsmier. Due to his amnesia, he is declared mentally unstable and confined to a psychiatric facility. Chapter 1: Brian Basco is Dead Following the funeral, Gina receives a call from Brian, who begs her to save him, claiming he is trapped in his own grave. The call is cut short as his phone battery dies, but just before it powers off, he sends Gina a message. Chapter 2: The Art of Running Away Gabbo, Brian’s friend from the asylum, recounts to Gina how Brian managed to escape. Gabbo outlines a strategy, but Kurgan takes the plan and flees to use it for himself. Brian adapts on the fly to overcome these setbacks, though he halts his escape when he discovers Kurgan’s severed head. Chapter 3: A Timely Suicide At a remote cabin in the woods, Gina assists a psychologist in investigating the death of a witness who could have cleared Brian’s name. The death was originally classified as a suicide. Chapter 4: An Unexpected Ally Brian’s escape continues, and we see how he intends to use Kurgan’s corpse to impersonate himself. Chapter 5: Deconstructing Brian We finally uncover some of the events that transpired between the end of Runaway 2 and the start of this game. Meanwhile, Gina is captured when Tarantula tracks her down. Chapter 6: The End is Here Brian devises a plan to defeat Tarantula and her henchmen, clear his name, and save Gina. The saga concludes in a satisfying and fitting manner.
