Scooby-Doo! Night of 100 Frights is a third-person platformer with action elements developed by Heavy Iron Studios and published by THQ for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox. It launched in North America on May 20, 2002, and later that year in PAL regions. This marked the first Scooby-Doo! title to appear on sixth-generation consoles. In 2003, it was added to the Greatest Hits lineup. A sequel, Scooby-Doo: Mystery Mayhem, followed the game. In the game, players take on the role of Scooby-Doo as he searches for his missing friends inside a spooky mansion after they are captured by a bizarre antagonist. The game features twelve distinct locations, including graveyards, hidden laboratories, fishing towns, and haunted labyrinths. Critics gave the game mixed reactions, often pointing out its simplicity, though the expansive settings and faithful representation of the Scooby-Doo! world were appreciated by both reviewers and fans. Longtime fans of the series welcomed the game as a redemption for the 2000 N64 title. The game is also notable for being the only and first time Don Knotts provided voice acting for a video game, despite having previously lent his voice to the Scooby-Doo franchise.
