Storyline

Shielded by the revered Jedi Order, the Galactic Republic endured as a beacon of tranquility across the stars for a millennium. Centuries ago, the galaxy faced its most formidable adversary in the form of the sinister Sith Empire. After a brutal conflict, the Republic prevailed, and the Sith were believed to have been eradicated. Still, the Jedi have kept a watchful eye on the ancient Sith world of Korriban, guarding against the lingering shadows buried within its tombs. Though a handful of survivors managed to escape and raise the alarm about the Imperial invasion, the Republic's relief was short-lived. Korriban was among the first planets to fall in the initial wave of attacks, and in the years that followed, the Republic endured countless devastating losses. Encouraged by their string of victories, the Empire set its sights on the Core Worlds, drawing the Republic's fleet into a vulnerable position and striking a sudden blow against the noble planet of Alderaan. The brave defense of Alderaan ignited hope among Republic forces throughout the galaxy, yet the Empire still held the advantage. This made it all the more shocking when the Imperial Dark Council proposed peace talks with the Republic. Suspecting deception, Republic leaders accepted the offer to meet on Alderaan but insisted the Jedi Order mobilize its full strength to ensure the talks' security. The Jedi agreed, dispatching their most experienced members to Alderaan and leaving only a small contingent behind at the Temple on Coruscant... After annihilating the Jedi Temple and overpowering the Republic's defenses, Imperial troops seized control of Coruscant, holding the planet as leverage while negotiations resumed on Alderaan. With their home world at risk, Republic officials had no choice but to accept the Empire's conditions. The Treaty of Coruscant was signed, compelling the Republic to relinquish control of multiple star systems and recognize the Empire's expanded territory. While the treaty marked an official end to the war, hostilities between the two powers have remained tense in the years since, and now, a return to open conflict appears all but certain.
