A version of Super Mario 64 included in Super Mario 3D All-Stars, based on the Shindou Pak Taiou Version and its improvements, also boasting refined textures and a sharper display resolution. With a classic control layout that has remained consistent in all of Mario’s 3D adventures since, Super Mario 64 was Mario’s triumphant entrance into three dimensions. Wall jump, backflip, and soar as you roam the halls of Princess Peach’s castle, gathering Power Stars and thwarting Bowser!
“Mario, please come to the castle. I've prepared a cake just for you. Yours in anticipation, Princess Toadstool.” “Wow, an invitation from Peach! I'll be there as fast as I can. I hope she's still waiting for me!” Mario is thrilled to receive the princess’s message, who resides in the Mushroom Castle, and without delay, he puts on his finest outfit and sets off immediately. “Hmm, something feels off... It’s too quiet in here…” Shaking off his growing sense of unease, Mario enters the eerily silent castle, where he is met with a rough voice saying, “Nobody’s here! Beat it! Bwa, ha, ha.” The voice seems to echo from all directions. “Who’s there?! I’ve heard that voice before...” Mario starts exploring the castle thoroughly. Most doors are locked, but he finds one ajar and peeks inside. On the wall hangs the biggest painting he’s ever seen, and from behind it comes a peculiar sound... “I think I hear someone calling. What mystery lies within this painting?” Without hesitation, Mario leaps toward the painting. As he is pulled into it, a whole new world unfolds before his eyes. Inside the painting, Mario is caught in the middle of a battle against Bob-ombs. According to the Bob-omb Buddies, someone—or something—has suddenly attacked the castle and stolen the “Power Stars.” These stars are the castle’s protectors. With them under his control, the creature intends to take over Mushroom Castle. To achieve his goal, he plans to transform the painting world’s residents into monsters as well. If left unchecked, these creatures will soon spill out of the painting. “A scheme this wild, this clever... this has to be Bowser’s doing!” Princess Toadstool and Toad are also missing. Bowser must have captured them and trapped them inside the painting. Unless Mario retrieves the Power Stars quickly, the people of this world will become Bowser’s army. “Well, Bowser won’t get away with this, not while I’m around!” The stolen Power Stars are scattered throughout the painting world. Use your wit and strength to reclaim the Power Stars and bring peace back to the Mushroom Castle. “Mario! You’re the only one we can rely on.”
