In The Sims 2, your Sims become more realistic, interactive, and intricate than in any previous version. The Sims 2: Super Collection is a version available exclusively for Mac, featuring the core game The Sims 2 along with six expansion packs—University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, and Bon Voyage—and three stuff packs: Family Fun Stuff, Glamour Life Stuff, and Happy Holiday Stuff.
You'll guide your Sims through their entire lives, from their earliest days to their twilight years. Help them navigate "Life's Big Moments" and boost their "Life Score" with every choice you make. And because each Sim has unique DNA, their looks and personality will be inherited by future generations. Life in The Sims 2 takes on a new depth thanks to an all-new 3-D engine. The game begins at the neighborhood stage. You can build a community from scratch or choose from three themed pre-built neighborhoods. Once settled, you'll pick a home and a family of Sims to manage. Sims now have aspirations, desires, and fears. Desires and fears are the everyday concerns that influence their behavior, such as wanting to socialize or get married, or fearing death or rejection. Fulfilling their desires makes them more productive in completing tasks you assign. Triggering their fears, however, leads to sluggishness, irritability, and resistance to your commands. Aspirations are the long-term goals, like starting a family, achieving wealth, or gaining knowledge. Succeeding in these allows you to purchase unique items that enhance your Sim's life, such as a money tree that generates income or a "fountain of youth" water cooler. Of course, managing all of this is easier thanks to the enhanced "Free Will" feature, which allows Sims to more easily take care of their basic needs. The game's AI has also improved significantly—Sims won't turn on radios just as someone is about to sleep, though they still sometimes leave their dishes on the floor. A major new addition to the series is the concept of a full lifespan. Sims now inherit traits from their parents, families evolve, and Sims age naturally. This change aligns with their aspirations (growing up is a baby Sim's first aspiration), and it also gives your Sims a limited time to reach their life goals. Each pre-made household comes with a cleverly written backstory inspired by dramatic soap opera plots—complete with intrigue, romance, ghosts, and family drama.
