The Sims is a life simulation game that focuses on the personal and detailed experiences of individual characters, rather than the growth of a whole society or civilization. You have control over almost every element of the lives of the people in your selected neighborhood. Each character is built from scratch, and you shape their personalities, appearances, desires, moods, impulses, living situations, career paths, personal decisions, lifestyles, and responses. The Sims: Deluxe Edition comes on two CDs and includes The Sims, The Sims: Livin' Large, The Sims Creator, and exclusive Deluxe Edition content: more than 25 objects and over 50 clothing options.
In *The Sims*, management is all about making key decisions. Whether it's designing the physical environment, shaping your Sims' personalities, emotions, and abilities, you'll be deeply involved in their everyday experiences. Activities include purchasing and arranging distinctive items for homes and workplaces, selling or replacing worn-out furniture, and generally constructing and sustaining the world your Sims inhabit. You'll steer your Sims through various stages of personal growth, and the relationships between them are shaped by your choices—everything from how they interact and communicate to the depth of their connections with other Sims. *The Sims* features ten different career paths for your working Sims to pursue, with each career requiring specific skills to advance. Each of these ten careers has ten distinct levels, allowing your Sims to climb the ranks and progress in their chosen fields. Your Sims can face natural disasters like floods and fires, as well as crimes like robbery. Issues such as neglect, hunger, energy depletion, and even forgetting to use the bathroom can impact your Sims and halt their progress. Death is a possibility, and entire families may be lost due to extreme neglect or starvation.
