Storyline

The game is set in Silentia, a surreal fantasy realm, where a young and melancholic circus clown named Sadwick resides. The story begins with him waking up in his circus caravan after enduring a recurring nightmare in which he witnesses the world collapsing. Sadwick takes a stroll through a nearby forest and encounters Bobby, a Chaski, the King's messenger. Bobby is en route to Corona, the royal palace, to deliver a powerful relic known as the Whispering Stone to the monarch. He warns that the end of the world is approaching and the land is already fracturing, with the Asgil, a monstrous underground horde, surrounding the castle. Bobby reveals he has been searching in vain for an oracle named Shana to shorten his journey and asks Sadwick for help in finding her. Intrigued by the possibility that she might interpret his nightmares, Sadwick convinces Bobby to hand over the Whispering Stone to aid in the search. Soon after, Bobby is frightened off and vanishes, which Sadwick attributes to an Asgil ambush. Using the Whispering Stone, Sadwick discovers a hidden passage that leads him to Shana, who tells him that his fate is to end the world. Shana guides Sadwick to a nearby island where he meets the enigmatic Kalida, who eventually brings him close to Corona. There, Sadwick stumbles upon the Asgil's lair and manages to overhear the plans of their leader, Loucaux, before being captured and imprisoned. After escaping, he boards a flying steam train heading to Corona, where he reunites with Bobby, who informs him that it's too late—the king has locked himself in his chambers. As Sadwick explores the castle, he discovers a model of a planetary system connected to the flow of space and time. He meets the royal astronomer, who explains that the Whispering Stone represents the planet Silentia in a five-planet model, and that the king must restore the system to bring balance. However, the king is ill, and only when the system is fixed can the fountain of the Water of Life be activated to awaken him.
