The follow-up to Virtual Pro Wrestling 64, released exclusively in Japan. The title means Royal Road Succession, which is also the name of the game's career mode. It is the fifth wrestling title developed by AKI Corporation. It introduced several enhancements from earlier games that would later appear in AKI's final Nintendo 64 wrestling title, WWF No Mercy. However, certain features like mask creation in edit mode and the MMA-style grappling system were not included in WWF No Mercy. Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 holds the All Japan Pro Wrestling license and includes 21 wrestlers from that promotion. The remaining characters are inspired by other real-life promotions and wrestlers, but due to copyright restrictions, they use fictional names and appearances. This is a common practice in many Japanese wrestling games. Players can often recognize the real-life inspirations by their signature moves and taunts, and the edit mode provides all the necessary ring gear to recreate their true likeness. The game features a total of 98 wrestlers, with 23 requiring unlocking. Additionally, there are 16 original character slots available for custom wrestler creation, bringing the potential total to 114 wrestlers. This game boasts the largest roster of any AKI wrestling title. By comparison, WWF No Mercy would offer 64 wrestlers in total.
