Summary

It's a fresh new year at Duel Academy, and the students are eager to begin their studies. You're assigned to the Slifer Red Dorm, and not long after classes start, strange events begin to unfold. As these unusual happenings take place, you start hearing the voice of a spirit duelist. This benevolent spirit will assist you in dueling and uncovering the secrets of Duel Academy. Compete against opponents from around the world through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The game features more than 1,500 cards. Customize and modify your character's appearance. Every game comes with three exclusive trading cards.

Storyline

The player is aboard a ship traveling to Duel Academy with their friends Jaden Yuki and Syrus Truesdale. Upon arrival, they are assigned to the Slifer Red dorm, and shortly after, strange events begin to unfold. As these odd happenings take place, the player starts to hear the voice of a duel spirit. This spirit is a helpful one, aiding the player in duels and uncovering the mysteries of Duel Academy. The story loosely mirrors the events of the anime, with the player stepping into the role of Jaden during key duels. For example, Dimitri steals Yugi’s deck, and it’s up to the player to retrieve it. The game follows the anime’s storyline from the beginning through the Dark Zane arc. Since the game is based on the anime, both major and minor characters from the series appear. Additionally, the game features many characters exclusive to *Spirit Caller*, who are introduced as supporting characters. The player will eventually face all seven Shadow Riders, complete other parts of Season One, and then enter a major tournament.
