Abel is a turn-based Japanese-style RPG that takes place in a dark, futuristic setting. From the headquarters, the player oversees Abel and his allies, where they can rest, obtain items, and gear up for upcoming missions. The missions unfold in expansive, dungeon-like zones. Enemies appear randomly and must be defeated in first-person combat using a fairly conventional system: characters can perform physical attacks, use items, or unleash special moves that require "special points" (similar to magic). An Auto Battle option is also available for combat.
At the dawn of the 21st century, Earth had achieved an unprecedented level of technological advancement. Yet, the environmental toll had also escalated far beyond what humanity had ever foreseen. It was then that the catastrophe struck: a massive floating fortress emerged in Earth's orbit, and the self-proclaimed "Beast Empire," a horde of monstrous invaders, began its assault on the planet. In a short time, an entire continent was wiped out. Humanity stood on the brink of annihilation. Only a specialized unit of agents, enhanced with the most advanced bioengineering and technology, could hope to halt the monstrous invasion. The leader of this elite force dispatches a team led by the young soldier Abel to investigate a site where a prior expedition vanished without a trace...
