Summary
Cyber Knight is a science-fiction themed RPG centered around being stranded in an alien galaxy. The game features a top-down perspective for navigating planets and locations, a side-view for battle sequences, and a first-person interface for managing the Swordfish starship. The Swordfish can travel between stars, scanning planets for data. When a planet is accessible, three crew members can be chosen to pilot three Modules—massive robots—to descend and explore. Many planets are inhabited, with towns and people that can be interacted with to gather clues. Various quests are given to obtain the necessary items to advance. There is no currency or item purchasing system. Instead, defeating Berserkers yields "NeoParts," which can be taken back to the Swordfish's lab. Analyzing these parts unlocks stat boosts (such as endurance, agility, and accuracy) for the Modules, as well as new weapons. Each of the six Modules has distinct stats, and the six pilots each possess unique abilities. Battles occur in a turn-based format on a 6x6 grid. Viewed from the side, the three Modules can be strategically placed against enemies to attack using a mix of melee and ranged weapons. Ammunition is not limited, but each Module also has a set of "options"—one-time-use attacks. Each Module has two hitpoint categories: one for the pilot and one for the Module itself. If either is reduced to zero, the Module is destroyed. To heal, the team carries 10 repair kits and 10 first aid kits, which must be used outside of battle. These supplies, along with options, and defeated pilots or Modules can be replenished by returning to the Swordfish.
Storyline
In the 24th century, humanity has expanded into the stars. The crew of the starship *Swordfish* is engaged in a fierce battle with space pirates when the conflict turns dire. In a moment of desperation, the crew activates their jump drive without a set course... and is hurled across the galaxy to the heart of it. The *Swordfish*, however, is severely damaged, with many lost in the chaos, including the captain. Only 26 crew members survive, and among them, just six are combat-ready: the commander, two soldiers, a mechanic, a doctor, and six massive "Module" mechs at their disposal. The survivors locate the planet Farworld, seemingly a human colony. There, they find the settlement under siege by relentless mechanical invaders known as "Berserkers." The remaining crew of the *Swordfish* must now fight against the Berserkers and venture through the galaxy in search of a way to return home.
