Gradius V is the fifth installment in Konami’s Gradius franchise, initially launched for the PlayStation 2. It brings fresh gameplay elements while keeping the classic side-scrolling shooter experience intact. A key innovation is the ability to adjust the firing direction of the "Options"—the yellow support units—using the analog stick. During this maneuver, the player’s ship stays in place, introducing a layer of strategy and risk. The rest of the game sticks to traditional Gradius principles: dodge enemy attacks and avoid collisions while gathering power-up capsules to enhance your weaponry. Gradius V was later made available on PlayStation 3 as part of the PS2 Classics lineup, but it has since been removed from sale and is no longer accessible to purchase.
