Heroes Chronicles: The Fiery Moon is the sixth installment in the Heroes Chronicles series. It was released as a downloadable bonus, along with Heroes Chronicles: The World Tree, on 3DO's official website during the period between the first four Chronicles and The Final Chapters. The campaign continues directly from where The World Tree left off, wrapping up the story begun in that episode. As Vorr escapes Enroth into a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, Tarnum and his Stronghold forces chase after him, determined to rescue the two remaining Ancestors from captivity and eliminate their deranged doppelgänger.
In *The Fiery Moon*, the immediate follow-up to *The World Tree*, Tarnum presses on in his quest to find Vorr and the remaining two Ancestors. He journeys deeper into the harsh desert to the northeast, eventually reaching a towering, unnamed mountain range. During his trek, he comes across a wounded familiar named Skizzik, who has escaped from Vorr’s forces. Skizzik reveals that the Ancestors are held captive on the Fiery Moon, accessible only via the Sparkling Bridge. The Sparkling Bridge is an ancient gateway that allows passage to any realm in existence. It has been protected by the elementals since the beginning of time and can only be activated with the Ring of the Wayfarer. Tarnum arrives on the Fiery Moon and rescues the two remaining Ancestors from Xyron, the Jailer. They give Tarnum sap from the World Tree, which has the power to heal Vorr. However, Tarnum is defeated in his confrontation with Vorr’s army. Grumba is killed in the battle, but Skizzik survives. After regrouping and rebuilding his strength, Tarnum is determined to kill Vorr this time. Yet the other Ancestors urge him to use the sap, warning that if Vorr dies, so too will Tarnum and the Ancestors, sending them all to Oblivion. Tarnum confronts Vorr and offers him the sap, which restores his sanity. For the first time, Tarnum feels as though he can truly abandon his brutal, savage past.
