In the magical realm of Urak, followers of eight distinct religions are locked in constant conflict. One of these is Balkoth, the Lord of Death, who serves the dark god Golgoth. Balkoth has vowed to eradicate all other faiths in the name of his dark deity. The other lords must grow their forces and resist this fanatical threat. Lords of Magic is a strategy game that blends turn-based exploration and resource gathering with real-time battles. Players can take control of any of the lords opposing Balkoth. Each of the eight faiths, led by a different lord, has unique units. Before launching an attack, the player must first liberate a Great Temple for their chosen faith. They must also construct a stronghold, develop their capital city, and train an army. Each army is led by a champion, the game's "hero," who can be a warrior, a thief, or a mage, each with their own strengths and weaknesses: the warrior excels in melee combat, the thief can disrupt enemy forces, and the fragile mage can unleash powerful spells. Combat is displayed in an isometric view and occurs in real-time, with an option to instantly resolve battles based on the units' statistics.
