Summary
Tohno Shiki learns about a fresh wave of murders in Misaki that closely mirror those from Tsukihime. As he investigates the killer, he encounters Sion Eltnam Atlasia, who immediately engages him in battle, trying to take him prisoner. After the fight, she explains that her goal in capturing him is to make contact with the "True Ancestor" (Arcueid), in hopes of obtaining information about a "cure for vampirism." Shiki then agrees to assist her in this endeavor. Melty Blood, the sequel to the visual novels Tsukihime and Kagetsu Tohya, blends elements of a visual novel and a fighting game. The narrative progresses through a sequence of battles, and the result of each fight determines one of two possible story branches. Ultimately, these choices lead to the game's final outcome. Early PC versions featured adventure-style narratives with branching paths, multiple endings, and a secondary storyline in arcade mode. Later releases dropped the adventure mode but expanded the roster with a significantly larger number of playable characters.
