MU Online is an immersive fantasy RPG set in the legendary Continent of MU. MU set the foundation for numerous online games that followed and is considered a pioneer in the 3D MMORPG genre.
A thousand years have passed, and the Land of MU has flourished, growing into a mighty empire with each passing age. Yet, as foretold in the Great Prophecy, the Continent of MU descended into devastating chaos. The great rulers who once governed the land have fallen from their lofty heights, and the central authority, weakened by the bitter conflicts and power struggles of greedy feudal lords, has shattered the kingdom and brought about the empire’s downfall. The era of peace and prosperity is now but a distant memory, replaced by a land stained with blood and shadow. The scars of war have ruined the once-beautiful terrain, and the ceaseless flow of blood shows no sign of stopping. Even now, petty lords continue to forge weapons of war, vainly seeking to restore what was lost. It was in this time of unending bloodshed that the Gates of Hell were torn asunder, a consequence of one man’s reckless ambition. Antonias, a foolish noble consumed by his own desires, was deceived by the wicked sorceress Lemulia and unwittingly unleashed upon the world Kundun, the Devil of Darkness, a demon long restrained by the Seal of Etramu. "Now, this land shall be mine once more. I shall cast peace into oblivion… the sun shall never rise again. This world will belong to me, and the clever shall serve as my slaves and beasts." The ancient demon Kundun, roused from his endless imprisonment, now walks among the living, corrupting the land with his presence. In the midst of this turmoil, the stars have lost their way, and the air is thick with the scent of terror and blood. Kundun's fury and vengeance pour forth, and in a short time, the once-honored land of MU has become a domain of his wicked followers. For two long years, the darkness of his rule has tainted all that was once pure. The prophecy of Nightmare's Day has come to pass, no longer just the words of the past. Scholars and sages have turned once more to the writings, seeking the light spoken of in the prophecy. Their final hope rests in the Seal of Etramu, the very force that once bound Kundun in eternal slumber. The seal has been shattered into eight fragments, and only when these pieces are reunited can peace return to the land once more.
