EA's basketball simulation, which was rebranded and scheduled for an October 2010 launch, was abruptly cancelled at the final stage due to quality concerns. The title was meant to bring fresh control schemes and mechanics designed to push the boundaries of the basketball simulation genre. The team working on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions aimed to overhaul the control system entirely, but faced significant time constraints with only an 18-month development window. A demo released during the development phase was riddled with bugs, many of which were widely shared online, including a viral YouTube clip showing player Andrew Bynum frozen in the center of the court in an awkward model pose. Few PlayStation 3 copies of the game were ever released, making them highly sought-after collector's items.
