Players take on the role of a mother cat named Milky living in a perilous city teeming with hostile dogs. These dogs are determined to stop Milky from rescuing her son, Michael, who wandered into the city and got lost. To survive, players must collect fish to gain temporary invincibility. However, other threats can still eliminate the mother cat, including the fish merchant (the only human antagonist in the game), speeding cars on the roads, and hazards like manholes and pylons. The city is split into roads for vehicles and sidewalks for dogs in overalls. After level 30, the fish merchants replace the dogs, making the fish-based invincibility power-up obsolete. Unlike the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game series (particularly the original NES version released in 1989), open manholes in this game are deadly rather than helpful for escaping the dogs. Sewer snakes emerge from the drains to attack the player with venom. Triangle cones can briefly hinder the player's movement. The game was designed for a younger audience than typical for the Nintendo Entertainment System at the time. Featuring the classical track *Ballet des poussins dans leurs coques* by Modest Mussorgsky as its soundtrack, the game repeatedly plays out the cycle of "dog chases cat; cat chases fish," reflecting the natural food chain.
