Summary

Ethan Waber, the protagonist, and his younger sister, Lumia Waber, attend the centennial celebration of the Alliance Space Fleet aboard the GUARDIANS space station. The festivities are suddenly disrupted by an enigmatic meteor storm that nearly obliterates the entire fleet. As people begin to evacuate, Ethan and Lumia deviate from the main escape path, and falling debris separates the siblings. Ethan then encounters a GUARDIAN named Leo, but they are ambushed by an unusual creature. The creature incapacitates Leo, and Ethan grabs his sidearm, using it to eliminate the threat. Before losing consciousness, Leo urges Ethan to locate his sister and informs him that a rescue team is en route.
