With over 25 years of history, The Dark Eye is one of Europe’s most renowned role-playing franchises. Beyond its acclaimed pen-and-paper adventures, TDE has also inspired a line of successful computer games. The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav plunges players into the rich world of Aventuria, offering an unforgettable story and the chance to explore regions never before seen in a TDE computer game. In Andergast, a city known for its deeply superstitious people, King Efferdan is preparing for a high-level diplomatic visit. After centuries of conflict with the neighboring kingdom of Nostria, the first steps toward lasting peace are now being taken. However, the king is troubled by a strange plague of crows—birds behaving with alarming aggression, even attacking people. Some citizens of Andergast claim the crows bring them disturbing nightmares. As the creatures begin to invade the castle itself, the king seeks a skilled bird catcher—offering young Geron the chance to prove that the bad luck he’s been blamed for since childhood is unfounded. After a meeting with the king, Geron is entrusted with this prestigious mission. But the task is far more challenging than expected, and it marks the beginning of the greatest journey of his life—one that will take him to the edges of the known lands of Aventuria and beyond.
Thirteen years ago... in the village of Andergast, a shadowy prophet was put to death by fire at the site of executions. No one knew his real name. He had emerged from the forest, delivering his ominous prophecies before vanishing once more. The townspeople called him "the Seer." Some believed he was a druid, a mage, a creature of the fae, or even a god-like entity. Over and over, the Seer foretold calamity for Andergast, and each time, disaster struck. No one could say for certain why the King of Andergast ordered the Seer's execution. Rumors claimed the Seer had cursed the entire kingdom. A young boy with dark hair watched the execution. As the condemned man passed by, the boy locked eyes with the Seer, who whispered a dire warning about his future. Then the pyre was lit, and the prophet was consumed by the flames. The boy, Geron, grew into a skilled trapper. But ever since that day, he could not escape the Seer’s final words, nor the wary glances of the people of Andergast. Strange misfortunes followed him—things broke, vanished, or turned upside down in his presence. He became known as a jinx, a child of ill omen. Now, as our tale begins, Geron is a trapper struggling to make ends meet. Crows behave in unnatural ways, becoming bold and violent, even attacking people. Some say the birds bring nightmares to the people of Andergast. When several of the heroes who once carried out the Seer’s execution are discovered dead, their eyes gouged out, fear spreads through the city. Many believe the Seer’s spirit has returned to claim vengeance. Naturally, many point the finger at Geron, the supposed harbinger of doom. When the king seeks a trapper for a crucial mission, Geron sees an opportunity to prove his innocence once and for all. And so, he steps into a tale far greater and more dangerous than he ever imagined.
