The Sims: Vacation, referred to as The Sims: On Holiday in the Republic of Ireland, the UK, China, and Scandinavia, is the fourth expansion for The Sims. This expansion brings new items, characters, and features, along with a brand-new location called Vacation Island, where Sims can go on trips with family or other Sims. It's the first time Sims can reside on lots outside their home, allowing the game to be saved while a Sim is away on Vacation Island. The island is divided into three unique areas: beach, forest, and snow-covered mountains. Sims can collect or buy souvenirs and choose to stay in a hotel or rent a tent or igloo.
A frosty mountain landscape, a glamorous Riviera-inspired shoreline, and a serene forest campsite—this tropical island getaway has everything. Sims can partake in a wide range of new activities at this welcoming vacation destination, a refreshing break from the monotony of everyday life. Cast a fishing line, hit the slopes for some snowboarding, or simply unwind by the waves. Be sure to pick up a few souvenirs before it's time to head home. This expansion lets overworked Sims break free from their routine-filled suburban lives and explore completely new environments filled with fresh activities, objects, chances for socializing, and a variety of new NPCs. The resort staff is dedicated to making every Sim’s stay as pleasant as possible. Costumed entertainers at each location keep the kids entertained. But watch out for the sly PickPocket, who’s always on the lookout for an easy Simoleon from an inattentive guest. Carefree travelers should also keep an eye out for poison ivy or the dreaded "Montezuma's Revenge." Just like previous Sims expansions, a wide array of new scenarios will test and highlight the best—and worst—of your favorite Sims. The island is even fully customizable, with plenty of open spaces waiting to be transformed by imaginative virtual builders and designers.
