Yakuza: Dead Souls is an action-adventure and survival horror video game created and released by Sega for the PlayStation 3. It serves as the sixth entry in the Yakuza series and takes place in Kamurocho during a zombie outbreak.
Dead Souls is an unofficial side tale set in April 2011, a year following the events of Yakuza 4. A sudden zombie epidemic erupts across Kamurocho, with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force eventually deployed to establish a quarantine and control the spread. Amid the chaos, four individuals step up to aid the citizens of Kamurocho and uncover the origin of the outbreak: Shun Akiyama, a loan shark determined to save his secretary, Hana; Goro Majima, a feared yakuza and construction magnate battling the early signs of infection; Ryuji Goda, who has recovered from his injuries at the end of Yakuza 2 and now runs a takoyaki stand; and Kazuma Kiryu, a former yakuza turned orphanage guardian who must return to Kamurocho when his adopted daughter, Haruka, is taken. The game is divided into four chapters, each centered on one of the main characters.
