Aerobat is a breakneck arcade-style shooter that leans heavily into speed and timing. The gameplay revolves around accumulating and releasing velocity. Your ship can either power its engines or its weapons, but never both simultaneously. To take out enemies, you must accelerate as much as possible, then ascend and cut your engines to begin firing during your descent. The more you boost without shooting, the greater the reward when you finally unleash a barrage. The game's visuals, design, and programming were all crafted by Matthew Yeager, who is commonly known as Thew. Aerobat was first conceived in April 2013 as a 48-hour prototype for Ludum Dare 26. The initial version was enjoyable enough to warrant expansion into a full-fledged game, and development has continued on the project ever since.
