The Batman: Arkham Collection brings together the ultimate editions of Rocksteady's Arkham Trilogy, featuring all post-launch content in a single, comprehensive package. Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City have been enhanced with improved visuals, while the collection is rounded out by Batman: Arkham Knight.
**Batman: Arkham Asylum** The story opens with Batman transporting the Joker in the Batmobile to Arkham Asylum after apprehending him at Gotham City Hall. At the same time, a "mysterious fire" erupts at Blackgate Prison, leading to the transfer of numerous inmates to Arkham, including many of the Joker’s gang. Upon arrival, Batman and armed security personnel secure the Joker to an upright stretcher and wheel him into the Intensive Treatment Center. Batman accompanies the guards and the Joker to the Holding Cells, where the Arkham staff refuse to let him proceed. As the Joker is being processed by Commissioner Gordon, he breaks free from a guard and flees with the help of Harley Quinn. Batman, locked out, breaks into the Holding Cells through a shattered window. Once inside, the Joker triggers his first trap, unlocking the cells and unleashing the Blackgate prisoners on Batman. After fending off more convicts, the Joker deactivates a security gate, allowing Batman to pursue him despite Gordon’s warning it may be a trap. Batman follows the Joker up a ramp, leaving the Holding Cells and entering the Processing Corridor, where he finds fallen guards in the Joker’s wake. One surviving guard, Eddie Burlow, directs Batman to the Lower Corridor. Batman arrives at the Patient Pacification Chamber, where two guards inform him that escaped inmate Victor Zsasz has taken another guard, Mike, hostage and will kill him if Batman approaches. Batman subdues Zsasz after a dramatic drop from a gargoyle. Suddenly, Batman receives a message from Harley Quinn, who has captured Quincy Sharp, the warden. Though Quinn believes Batman is still in the Patient Pacification area, he escapes back to the Processing Corridor and enters the Decontamination sector, where Arkham staff and inmates are trapped in a room filling with Joker Toxin. **Batman: Arkham City** **Prologue** New Arkham City inmate and rising gang leader, Two-Face, plots to publicly execute fellow prisoner Catwoman after she attempts to reclaim stolen goods from his hideout. Meanwhile, Gotham City has deteriorated into a police state under Mayor Sharp, where even those with minor criminal records are relocated to the prison district. Those who oppose Sharp’s policies face enforced disappearances, becoming political prisoners within Arkham’s walls. Among them is Bruce Wayne, who organizes a protest condemning the plan to turn half the city into a walled-off prison for criminals. He argues that isolating them has only led to a chaotic, blood-soaked urban war. **Welcome to Arkham City** As the latest target of Sharp’s vendetta, Wayne is kidnapped by TYGER Security agents working for Hugo Strange, who is aware of his secret identity as Batman. Strange plans to unveil his new scheme for Arkham City that night, an operation known as Protocol 10, which will cement his control over Gotham. Now an inmate, the Dark Knight arranges for Alfred Pennyworth to airdrop his crime-fighting gear to him, preparing to rescue Catwoman from Two-Face and uncover the truth behind Protocol 10. **Batman: Arkham Knight** **Prologue** Nine months after the Joker’s death, Gotham’s crime rate has dropped, but Batman remains on high alert, anticipating a new threat. Before his death, the Joker sent his mutated blood to Gotham hospitals, infecting several patients. While most were cured, the untreated cases are beginning to resemble the Joker in both appearance and behavior. Batman researches a cure and orders Robin to monitor the infected. **The Arkham Knight** On Halloween night, Scarecrow releases a new batch of Fear Gas in a diner, threatening to spread it across Gotham. Six million civilians are evacuated, but the city’s criminals and villains remain, leaving Commissioner James Gordon and the GCPD overwhelmed. Batman investigates Scarecrow’s whereabouts, searching a rooftop hideout, but instead rescues Poison Ivy from Scarecrow’s henchmen. In a makeshift Batcave inside Gotham’s Clock Tower, Barbara Gordon is gathering intel on Scarecrow’s toxin and traces its production to Ace Chemicals. Batman investigates but is ambushed by the enigmatic "Arkham Knight" and his army, which includes a fleet of unmanned tanks. Batman battles through the militia and learns from workers that Scarecrow is preparing a massive chemical explosion that will blanket the entire eastern seaboard in fear toxin. Batman confronts Scarecrow, who reveals that Barbara has been taken by the Arkham Knight before escaping. As he reduces the blast radius, Batman is exposed to the toxin, which interacts with his mutated blood, causing hallucinations of the Joker. After escaping the exploding Ace Chemicals, Batman reveals to Gordon that Barbara is involved in his mission, and an enraged Gordon vows to find her without Batman’s help. **Scarecrow's Plans** Batman tracks the Arkham Knight to an underground tunnel system, hoping to find Barbara, but is ambushed. He gives chase to the fleeing convoy and discovers the driver is a decoy using a voice modulator to mimic the Arkham Knight. Interrogating the driver, Batman learns the group is heading to North Refrigeration. Batman and Nightwing question the Penguin, who reveals the Knight and Scarecrow are meeting with a pharmaceutical executive named Simon Stagg. After boarding Stagg’s airship, Batman uncovers that Scarecrow hired Stagg to build a device called the "Cloudburst," but Stagg attempted to betray them and was punished with fear toxin. After confronting Scarecrow and interrogating Stagg, Batman is again exposed to the toxin, triggering a powerful hallucination. Scarecrow escapes with the Cloudburst. Batman receives a message from Scarecrow revealing Barbara is in the same location where Ivy was held. Before Batman can reach her, Barbara is doused with toxin and shoots herself in the head. Batman and Alfred Pennyworth are devastated, but Alfred urges him to remain strong for Barbara’s sake. He explains the Cloudburst is a device meant to spread fear toxin across Gotham. To counter it, Batman enlists Ivy, who uses a massive tree to grow giant flowers capable of neutralizing the toxin.
