007: Quantum of Solace is a James Bond video game inspired by the movies Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Multiple versions of the game were launched on seven different platforms, with the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PC featuring a first-person shooter format, while the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS versions adopted a third-person shooter approach. The game utilizes the Call of Duty 4 game engine. The main gameplay experience in Quantum of Solace revolves around first-person shooting. However, at various points in the game, the perspective shifts to third-person to highlight the player's role as James Bond. This third-person mode incorporates a cover system and quick time events, along with other interactive elements. For instance, quick time events are used during a level that reimagines the construction site chase from the start of the Casino Royale movie, as the player pursues Mollaka.
Bond encounters Vesper Lynd, a Treasury accountant, as he travels to Montenegro. Following their meeting, Bond fends off drug dealers operating across the train and eliminates their leader, who had been invited to Le Chiffre’s high-stakes game at Casino Royale, taking his place instead (a key change from the movie). After the battle, Bond reaches Montenegro and confronts Le Chiffre directly. After besting him in a poker match, Vesper is captured. Bond chases the abductors but crashes his vehicle and is captured himself. He manages to break free and fights his way through Le Chiffre’s barge to save Vesper. Though he succeeds, Bond and Vesper are recaptured by Le Chiffre’s guards. On the brink of death, they are rescued when Mr. White kills Le Chiffre in retaliation for his recent actions, allowing Bond and Vesper to survive.
