Monad is a sensory meditation designed for a dim, silent room, best viewed on a large display with surround sound or headphones, and controlled via a multi-touch interface. Originally, Monad was an exploration of spatial dynamics, where the moment the player interacted with the system, a white circle began to expand uncontrollably, filling the screen and the surrounding space, leaving no room for control. The black circle was introduced as a way for the player to reclaim that space. The soundscape was added to deepen the emotional resonance already stirred by the visuals. Monad was developed using LÖVE, with assistance and encouragement from the LÖVE community and Louisville Makes Games. It made its debut at the Indie Games and Art Social during AIGA Design Week in September 2018. The experience was later showcased at Bit Bash 2019 at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, where it took first place in the "Physical Interactive Art" category at the Kentucky State Fair's Design Web Digital and Interactive Art exhibition. Most recently, Monad was featured at EGX 2019 as part of the Leftfield Collection.
